THE SAN JOAQUIN
TUESDAY NIGHT FLYER
June 17, 2008
NEW DATA & INFORMATION
!WARNING RE TEC
INSURANCE EFFORTS!We have been informed that Mark
Hall, acting as Canon to the Ordinary for Bishop Lamb of the
Episcopal Diocese, has been calling and emailing our Anglican
congregations claiming to be offering insurance (health, dental,
etc.) to our lay and/or ordained employees while throwing doubt
about our current coverage. Be aware that Diocesan Council is
currently reviewing our existing plans and considering a strong
replacement provider to issue coverage similar to what we have now.
The Episcopal Church Medical Trust apparently no longer recognizes
clergy who are ordained outside of TEC. According to our
understanding, if you were ordained by the Archbishop of Canterbury
(or, if you WERE the ABC) and then moved to the US then TEC would
not be willing to offer coverage to you. Importantly, no one who
wishes to have insurance with our Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin
will be without such coverage as long as they meet provider
qualifications. Please disregard any bills you receive from Medical
Trust or the Episcopal Church, and contact Debbie Matley at this
office as WE WILL CONTINUE to bill as we always have.
We have not used Church Insurance for our health insurance for
years, although Kaiser and Blue Shield do not currently provide
dental, life, and disability coverage. Church Insurance has
not terminated our dental, life or disability coverage at this
time, although they are saying that their coverage will expire
at year-end. By that time, or much earlier, we shall have
comparable coverage for all our lay and ordained participants to
replace, perhaps even increase, said coverage. Signing up with the
program(s) presented by Cn. Mark Hall may place participants under
an umbrella of the Episcopal Church, an act which may have negative
effects in the future. Please warn your staff to be aware of these
deceitful tactics. Contact
Debbie@sjoaquin.net.
“INVITATIONS” FROM
BISHOP LAMB:
As has been seen by a very aggressive action in Taft by
Bishop Lamb and his assistant, Fr. Mark Hall, they appear to be
searching for opportunities to capitalize upon within our Diocese.
Invitations to “talk” are fishing opportunities that may catch those
who respond in compromising positions. Do not be deceived! Someone
is prowling around “like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour.”
“EVANGELISM 101” AT ST.
EDWARDS’S, SAN JOSE, JUNE 21:
Miss Carrie Boren, Evangelist from the Diocese of Dallas,
led this course at All Saint’s, Long Beach this past Saturday and
was very well received. Just over the Altamont in the northern half
of our Diocese, St. Edward’s Parish is hosting the same event.
Please contact Fr.
Ed McNeill, Rector at
(408) 377-0158 or by email to
rector@stedwards.org or by visiting
their website at
www.stedwards.org.
Anglican-Evangelism.org still retains the brochure used at All
Saints.

UPDATE ON ASSESSMENTS:
We give thanks for the congregations who have made an
extra effort to mail their assessments in on time, but in some cases
to catch up from their delayed payments altogether. In one case, a
church has decided to pay it’s entire 2008 assessment in advance!
Until a judge makes a determination on the injunction
upon our , it is especially important that we continue to receive

Engaged Encounter is an opportunity for engaged, newly married and

sacramental union. The weekend is intended to supplement, not to
replace any other counseling that clergy may provide. There is no
group sharing! Writing short letters to each other follows short
presentations on a variety of topics, such as handling money and
making decisions. Couples read each other’s letters and discuss
them privately. The majority of time is spent as a couple!
Registration is $100 per couple. We are always looking for
volunteers to participate in this ministry. If you are interested
in attending, volunteering or sending a couple that you know; please
